Racing Heart began the winter of 2012 as a grassroots idea—we want to ensure automated external defibrillators are ready and available in public access locations to help save lives. And we’re thinking big. By partnering and working with schools, recreation and community centers, fitness and health organizations, and local and state leaders, we act as a funding source for these much needed automated external defibrillators.
Racing Hearts strongly believes in following guidelines established through evidence-based research, which supports placing multiple AEDs at one site.
We are a California non-profit based out of the San Francisco Bay Area. Our donations goes towards targeted schools and other community locations where the greatest risk of sudden cardiac arrest exists.
Racing Hearts is passionate about saving lives with automated external defibrillators. Our mission is to secure contributions from our communities, corporations and private foundations and distribute the funding to organizations for the purchase, placement and training of live-saving AEDs at our schools, playgrounds, recreation and community centers.
Our team is currently working with public and private organizations identifying under-served communities with a high number of free and reduced lunches (50% greater) and at risk areas as studies have shown this distinction correlates with higher obesity and less access to healthcare. Our 2012 to 2013 goals include raising $75,000 to cover the purchases of 40 new automated external defibrillators for local organizations in these communities.
